Crit Feedback

Today we had a massive group crit before dividing into smaller groups. I found it quite useful as my group helped me to make some of my design decisions. They liked all the development work I had done but thought it was too thorough and I needed to develop things on the computer more. I should not worry about colouring everything and making my sheets so neat.

They liked the juxtaposition of type and image to get across the translation of the idioms and helped me pick out some of my ideas to develop into test pieces.

For the cross stitch brief they felt that the plastic bag packaging would work well as it would be thrown away and the kit is more important than what it comes in. As long as I create a good enough instruction leaflet and pack topper, it will look good.

They also really liked my exhibition brief but felt that the designs I had come up with weren't really 'griddy' enough. Without the grid drawn on, some of them looked very plain. I need to experiment with incorporating the grid into the design and bring it to the foreground. I need to make the grid obvious to viewers and I should try fitting the content of the design into a grid based off one of the pieces of art. They seemed to like the idea of using a Mondrian painting to form the design.
